applicant for a faculty position in your School of Engineering.

	I have known  Charles Spalding for more than 7 years, both as
a graduate student  at Stanford  University, and more  recently as  a
professional consultant to my firm.
	
	I  consider him  an  extremely capable  individual, with  the
ability  to effectively  apply  his broad  academic background  to the
challenging engineering problems  he has faced during  his consulting
